Burnishing the Soul – poetry collection

Burnishing the Soul – my new collection of poetry – is now in print!!!

With spectacularly beautiful graphic design by Bee Williamson, this latest collection of poetry and images has been a pleasure to put together.

Why title the book Burnishing the Soul?  Because burnishing my soul is what keeps me truly alive.

As a poet, the colour and fabric of my soul is indeed burnished by travel, music, the season, walking and people. And it’s impossible not to get high on this kind of lustre of write poetry about it.

My respected buddy, poet and author Cam Semmens writes this about my new collection : “Leigh brings the gift of her attention to all this is around her. Her poems invite us to walk, to sing, to explore far afield and in our backyard, to take note, to write. I take this book as Leigh’s very own ‘poetic manifesto’ on how to live a poetic life, indeed, on how to burnish one’s soul.”

To burnish is to ‘rub to a shine’; a soul can be defined as one’s true self; and I think there is a chance within the pages of this book for your true self to be brought to a shine.

I’ve received some really encouraging, heartening reviews of this book with people telling me how much they identify with my poetry. It doesn’t get any better!!
